Our strain of Chicken of the Woods growns on softwoods including hemlocks, Douglas fir, true firs and spruce. Stumps, rather than cut logs, are recommended for innoculation. This brilliant, shelf-like mushroom has the flavor of white chicken meat and is considered a favorite edible among many mycophiles.
